Powertrain Overview

Engine / Transmission / Differential / Cooling

In the early stages of the project, we spent alot of time weighing the pro's and con's of old school vs new school V8 power. We were looking for something unique, powerful and reliable; and we eventually chose to run Roush Stage III modular 4.6L engines in both cars. The motors will receive special tuning to bump up the power & torque while maintaining excellent driveability and fuel economy. The power will be handled by a T56 transmission and fed through an aluminum driveshaft to a Cobra IRS differential. Click on the links above to get an overview of each powertrain sub-system.

Georgia Torino

Texas Torino

Georgia Torino started out life with a 289 V8 backed with an FMX automatic transmission and an 8" axle puts the power (or lack thereof) to the ground.  The car will not retain any of its powertrain system by the time we are done.  The car as purchased runs and drives, although just barely.

Texas Torino started out life the same as the Georgia car - a 289 V8 backed with an FMX automatic transmission and an 8" axle that puts the power to the ground.  The car will not retain any of its powertrain system by the time we are done either.  The car was purchased by us with no engine in the car, and a 1968 390 4bbl engine and C6 came on the side.
